Nelson and Cathy Dorr arrived in the Mayo River Valley of Sonora, Mexico in the fall of 1986. God opened doors to reach into farming and indian villages to establish The Savior's Baptist Church and The Lamb's Baptist Church and into the city of Huatabampo to establish Maranatha Baptist Church. Each of these churches have planted another church in another village or city and they have started several other Missions Works. Calvary Baptist Church in Silver City, New Mexico contacted the Dorr's in 1994 with the possiblity of Nelson pastoring this supporting church while continuing his ministry with the Christians in Mexico. During those eight years God blessed in both ministries. As a second generation of youth began to grow up in the Mexican churches, the Lord burdened Nelson and Cathy's hearts for the need to train these young people for the ministry. In the latter part of 2002 the Dorr's moved back down to the Mayo River Valley to establish Providence Baptist Institute. In November of 2005 Providence Baptist Church was started. The Dorrs have four children. Christy, the oldest, is married to Markie Bullock who is the director of Providence Baptist Orphanage. Alicia is a school teacher at Shadow Mountain Baptist Church in Morgan Hill, CA. Micah is in partnership with his father. Annie is married to Jon Kuefler and is working with him in the mountains near the Dorrs.. |
